The project began with user research to gain insights into the needs and habits of the target audience. The study revealed that many Ugandans preferred the traditional way of grocery shopping in-person, enjoying the social aspect of visiting markets and interacting with vendors. However, due to busy schedules and rising transportation costs, there was a growing demand for online grocery shopping. Furthermore, a competitive analysis of the few existing grocery shopping apps in Uganda showed that most of them had a cluttered and confusing interface, limited product offerings, and an unreliable delivery system.

Design
Based on the research findings, I designed a simple and user-friendly interface for the app. The product categories were organised in a way that made it easy for users to find what they needed. The interface included a search bar to help users look for specific products.
However due to the project being cut midway, I was not able to carry out user testing for the prototype that was created or gather much feedback on the design. But the few I gathered appreciated the simplicity and ease of use though some found it difficult to navigate to the checkout page. Therefore, the interface was adjusted to simplify the checkout process.
Reflections
In conclusion, the Foodie grocery shopping app was purposefully designed for the Uganda market while providing a simple and easy-to-use interface, a reliable delivery system, a wide range of products, and features that build trust with users. I believe that this project had potential to be successful in the Uganda market and provide a valuable service to users looking for a convenient and reliable way to shop for groceries and other food items.
